As to your question why your losing some HDD space... It's probably to do with Shadow copy storage as a small portion of your HDD is given over to storing shadow copies (usually around 15%). As the default defragger (which in my opinion is awful, slow and a complete waste of time) moves files around between the two then it may look like some has gone missing.

Shadow copy? Dident think my pc had that. Since i read its only with certian pcs. Mines home premium.

Yup, it definately has it, unless you've turned it off....
If you go to this site here: Link Removed and download the vista tweakguide it will give you all the info you need on resizing and what it actually does.. Plus many more things vista, an excellent read
You'll need a PDF reader such as adobe or Foxit..
