Hello everyone!

I have a Vista Ultimate and I am trying to install AJAX Extension from Microsoft.
But it wouldn't install. I get the message "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation."

I own the computer and I am the sa. How do I disable the thing so I can install what I want?

Thanks
Gene Rajska

Hello Gene Rajska, To address the issue of not being able to install the AJAX Extension due to policies set by the system administrator, even though you are the owner of the computer, there are a few steps you can take to try and resolve this:
  1. Run as Administrator:
    • Right-click on the installation file and select "Run as Administrator". This might bypass the restriction set by the policies.
    []Check Group Policies:
    • Group Policies could be blocking these installations. To check and modify Group Policies:
      • Press Windows Key + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
      • Navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Installer.

      • Press Windows Key + R, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
      • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer.
      • Look for any policies that may block installations and adjust or remove them.
    []Local Security Policy:
    • Check the Local Security Policy:
      • Press Windows Key + R, type secpol.msc, and press Enter.
      • Navigate to Local Policies > Security Options.
      • Look for any policies that restrict software installation.
    [
    ]Antivirus and Firewall Permissions:
    • Temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall before attempting the installation.
  2. Safe Mode:
    • Try installing the AJAX Extension in Safe Mode. Sometimes, this can bypass certain restrictions. After trying these steps, you should be able to install the AJAX Extension successfully. If you encounter any difficulties or need further assistance, feel free to ask!
