Windows 7 Do i need upgrade or full install

I recently installed windows 7 on my computer that was recently running vista. Come to find out it was a bootleg of windows 7 ultimate. It works fine but says to avtivate. I want to install either w7home premium or professional. Can i just buy the upgrade or do i need the full installation. Thanks

Yes, you need to pay for the upgrade. Microsoft has prices:
