Windows 7 Does inserting a graphic card AUTOMATICALLY disables GPU core handling?

As you know Intel core i* CPUs contains a full graphic GPU which allows driving a monitor without additional graphic card hardware.

But what if I explicitely want to use an additional graphic card (e.g. because it is faster or can handle higher resolutions like 4K).

Does core i* CPU resp. the motherboard AUTOMATICALLY detect the new graphic card and disables its own built-in default graphic GPU?

Or do I have to manually enable resp switch to graphic card somehwere in BIOS or in Windows 7?

Hi Peter,
if you look in the gpu's control panel there should be an option to change whatever your going to play so that it uses the gpu instead of the onboard. See this link as an example:
