Restoring your contacts from a backed-up .pst file and then importing them into another .pst file in Outlook is definitely feasible. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to export your address book (contacts) from the .pst file that contains your backups and import them into the other .pst file.

Step 1: Open the Backup .pst File​

1. Open Outlook.
2. Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings again.
3. Under the Data Files tab, click Add... to open your backup .pst file.
4. Browse to the location of your backup .pst file and open it.

Step 2: Export Contacts from the Backup .pst File​

1. Once the backup .pst file is open, go to File > Open & Export.
2. Select Import/Export to open the Import and Export Wizard.
3. Choose Export to a file and click Next.
4. Select Comma Separated Values (CSV) and click Next.
5. In the list, select the Contacts folder from the backup .pst file (usually listed under the name of the .pst file) and click Next.
6. Choose a location to save the exported CSV file. Make sure you remember where you save it.
7. Click Finish to export your contacts. You may be prompted to map fields; you can usually accept the defaults.

Step 3: Import Contacts into the Other .pst File​

1. Open the .pst file where you want to import the contacts.
2. Go to File > Open & Export.
3. Select Import/Export again.
4. Choose Import from another program or file and click Next.
5. Select Comma Separated Values and click Next.
6. Browse to find the CSV file you exported previously and select it. Choose how you want to handle duplicates, then click Next.
7. Select the Contacts folder in your new .pst file as the destination and click Next.
8. Click Finish to complete the import.

Important Notes​

• After importing, check your contacts to ensure everything came through correctly.
• Sometimes, fields between the two versions may not align perfectly, so verify the accuracy of the imported contacts.
• If you have contact groups or special fields, you may need to rebuild these manually after import.
