Currently I use about 110GB of my total system and I would like to
puchase something for backup at a reasonable price ( $50-75 ).

External HD's are really cheap now you can get a WD 1T for $99 and a 2T for $139 at Wally World. With school starting in a few weeks you may get an even better buy.
