So my laptop's ac/dc port died and it was going to cost a bit to fix so decided to take the hdd out of it and put it in an enclosure, The hdd is running fine and the enclosure works great however i think there is a security issue on win 7, i try to access or move or copy my files from the hdd to my desktop but each time im told i do not have permission to access said files. Is there a work around this? i really need my files.

The OS the HDD was running was WinXP.

I've used this successfully in similar situations.... Good luck!

Add Take Ownership Option Shortcut in Right Click Menu of Windows 7

You have to hold the shift key down when you right click!
