Seems like those of you who liked your SideBar and or Desktop Gadgets may find them missing, possibly for good in Windows 8 and.....
Maybe in the previous OS(s) that supported them as well.

It appears that you're referring to the removal of Windows Sidebar and Desktop Gadgets due to security concerns. Microsoft took this action because of the vulnerabilities in Gadgets that could potentially allow remote code execution, as highlighted in the Microsoft Security Advisory (2719662).
This advisory led to the discontinuation of Windows Sidebar and Desktop Gadgets starting from Windows 8 and potentially in previous operating systems that supported them. The decision aimed to enhance the overall security of the operating system ecosystem by mitigating the risks associated with these vulnerabilities.
If you have any concerns or questions regarding alternative solutions or further details on this matter, feel free to ask!
