2015-02-12

February 12, 2015
  • Feedback follow-up: Removed ads for logged-in members. Mobile members will still see ads to help support the app development.
  • Feedback follow-up: Added bottom page disclaimer.
  • PHP upgraded from 5.5.20 -> 5.5.21
  • Many server level updates (too many to list here).
  • Database and main web server were necessarily rebooted.
(What is a feedback follow-up? Usually someone sends us an e-mail or message with a good idea and/or constructive criticism and this is acted upon when it considered to be a good idea/and or feasible)

  • This will take some time to get through to Google and Amazon (in publication phase)
iOS version:
  • Brand new user interface includes iPad large screen optimization and iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus support.
  • New features: multi-quote, quick-reply bar, alerts for messages and unread in tab menu and so on.
  • Many minor issues fixes. This is a major version upgrade of the software and Apple users should consider it an essential update.
  • This will take a few days to go through the review process from Apple (can take quite awhile).
  • Mobile API upgraded yet again. This should improve push notifications, forum connectivity, and numerous performance improvements.
While it has been asked many times, there is no Windows Phone version. Please use IE on Windows Phone. The site is designed to work on nearly any web browser. Some early work was done by both myself and @Josephur on a Windows Phone version, but it is not feasible at this time.

Latest Updates:

New forum software version:
  • In certain circumstances, message edits were not subject to spam checks.
  • Remove the hard-coded "Spam" ban reason from the spam cleaner. This now uses the spam_cleaner_ban_reason phrase.
  • Cron entries that are part of disabled add-ons will no longer show a next run time to indicate they aren't run automatically.
  • Ensure that visible staff members are the only ones that cannot be ignored.
  • Fix an issue where custom field values were not always selected properly when editing.
  • Adjust spinboxes to work as expected when mousing into or out of them while holding the mouse button down.
  • Prevent a fatal error when rebuilding attachment thumbnails and unexpected data is found in an image.
  • Improve conversion of certain data in the SMF importer.
  • When receiving a security/CSRF check error via an Ajax request, return a slightly different error message that does not recommend pressing the back button.
  • Ensure that the editor HTML is always synchronized when submitting a form.

Could we add some mal-ware, antivirus and back up software links to the resources area... just to make it so we can say to people go here and download this and this?
