"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. check your computers system information to see whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

I got this error when trying to open a .exe file. I am using windows 7 64-bit.

I have tried to troubleshoot the compatibility issues, but to no prevail. Help would be much appreciated,

Thanks.

What program are you trying to run? Is it older software? Maybe it's 16-bit. Win 7 64-bit does not support running 16-bit programs. Without knowing which program you are trying to run, we can only guess what the issue is.

Is it 16-bit Windows or DOS? You could setup a VM running XP if it's a Windows program. If it's a DOS program then you could use DOSBox.

Strollin, I think the answer is no but I'll ask it anyway. I have an old laserjet printer that is not compatible with Windows 7. Any chance I could get the driver to work by loading it into a VM running XP (and print to it from regular Windows applications)?
