Hello!

When I used XP I could send files by dcc in mirc with no problems. In Windows 7 the transfer disconnects after 10-20 seconds every time. Installed a FTP server but the same thing happens there.

Thanks any reply in advance!

Solution
It seems like you are experiencing issues with file transfers in mIRC and FTP server connections on Windows 7, where the transfer disconnects after 10-20 seconds. This can be frustrating, but there are several things we can explore to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Firewall Settings:
    • Check your firewall settings to ensure that they are not blocking the file transfer or FTP connections. You might need to create exceptions or rules to allow these connections.
    []Network Configuration:
    • Verify that your network settings are correct, including IP addresses, subnet masks, and gateway configurations. Inconsistent network settings can cause connectivity...

Inconsistent network settings can cause connectivity issues.
    [
    ]Router and Port Forwarding:
    • If you are using an FTP server, ensure that your router is configured to forward the necessary ports for FTP (usually ports 20 and 21). Improper port forwarding can lead to disconnects.
    []mIRC Settings:
    • Check the settings within mIRC for any specific configurations related to file transfers. Adjusting these settings might help stabilize the connection.
    [
    ]FTP Server Configuration:
    • Verify the settings and configurations of your FTP server software. Adjust any timeout settings or connection limits that could be causing the disconnects.
    []Check for Software Conflicts:
    • Ensure that there are no conflicting programs or settings that could be interrupting the transfers. Close any unnecessary applications running in the background.
    [
    ]Update Drivers:
    • Make sure that your network adapter drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause connectivity issues.
  2. Test on a Different Network:
    • If possible, try the file transfer or FTP connection on a different network to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is related to your local network.

      Additional Information:

    • mIRC File Transfer Settings:
    • In mIRC, you can adjust settings related to DCC (Direct Client-to-Client) file transfers. Ensure that your settings are configured correctly to allow uninterrupted transfers.
    • FTP Server Software:
    • If you continue to experience issues, consider trying different FTP server software to see if the problem is specific to the current software you are using. By following these steps and checking the recommendations, you might be able to pinpoint the cause of the disconnects during file transfers and FTP connections on Windows 7. If the issue persists, further troubleshooting or assistance may be needed. Let me know if you need more specific guidance on any of these steps!
