I've got a unique problem that I've not seen before. I'm using IE10 (Windows 8). The forward slash on some tabs on both Metro and IE Desktop look like this by hitting that particular key alone - it appears as follows \
Now when I hit the Shift key, it appears as follows |
I can do this - c:\ and now it appears to be a c:w but when I post it to the forum, it appears normal. What goes here?

On facebook / or Google Search, it acts proper. In Outlook, it behaves normally. But it misbehaves also in Google Chrome.

I've tried the Ctrl-Shift / I've tried US keyboard / Canadian Keyboard etc - nothing will change this.

Any idea as to how I can fix this one -

The issue you're experiencing with the forward slash key behaving strangely and displaying as \ when pressed alone, and as | when pressed with the Shift key, could be due to a keyboard layout setting or a software-related problem. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Keyboard Layout Settings:
    • Check Keyboard Layout: Ensure that your keyboard layout settings match the physical layout of your keyboard. Sometimes, incorrect keyboard layouts can cause keys to behave unexpectedly.

  1. Keyboard Layout Settings:

    []Language Settings:
    • Verify Language Settings: Confirm that your language settings are correct and aligned with your physical keyboard. Incorrect language settings can affect key inputs.

    ]Software and Drivers:
    • Update Drivers: Make sure that your keyboard drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause key input issues.
    • Check for Software Conflicts: There might be software conflicts causing this behavior. Try booting into Safe Mode and see if the issue persists.
    []Browser-specific Issues:
    • Reset Browser Settings: In Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, try resetting the browser settings to default.
    • Browser Extensions: Disable all browser extensions and add-ons to see if any of them are causing the issue.
    [
    ]System-wide Settings:
    • Accessibility Settings: Check your Accessibility settings for any modifications that might affect keyboard behavior.
    • Region and Language Settings: Ensure that your region and language settings are configured correctly.
    []System Updates:
    • Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. Updates can sometimes fix keyboard-related issues.
    [
    ]Physical Keyboard Check:
    • Key Testing: Test the keyboard on another computer to see if the issue is with the keyboard itself.

      Additional Suggestions:

      • If the issue persists, you may consider using an external keyboard to see if the problem is specific to the built-in keyboard.
      • Try using a different user account on your computer to see if the problem is user-specific.
By following these steps, you should be able to narrow down the cause of the issue and hopefully resolve it. If the problem persists, please provide more details, and we can further assist you in troubleshooting.
