I have an old ATI HDTV Wonder with wireless RF remote. The card is dead, but the remote still works... in 32bit XP.

I'm testing out the 64bit version of Win7. It detects and installs a compatible driver for the usb RF dongle of my remote (according to the Device Manger), but the software to control it isn't compatible with 64bit Win7 (YES, I've tried the Compatibility Wizard in every conceivable configuration).

Since there seems to be a compatible driver, I figure all that's missing is matching software to control it.

Anyone else have any luck getting an ATI remote working with 64bit Win7? (I've found a few posts online claiming success in 64b Vista, but they don't seem to work with W7.)

Thx.

It seems like you are facing compatibility issues with the ATI HDTV Wonder remote control on a 64-bit version of Windows 7. The remote works on a 32-bit XP system, but the software to control it is not compatible with 64-bit Win7, even though the driver for the USB RF dongle is installed successfully. Here are a few steps you can try to potentially resolve this issue: 1. Compatibility Mode: You mentioned trying the Compatibility Wizard, but it's worth giving it another shot. Right-click on the software executable, go to Properties, then the Compatibility tab, and try running it in compatibility mode for different versions of Windows, such as Windows Vista or XP. 2. Vendor Website: Visit the ATI (now AMD) website to see if...

Vendor Website: Visit the ATI (now AMD) website to see if there are updated drivers or software that may be compatible with Windows 7. Sometimes, newer versions of the software may offer improved compatibility with different Windows versions. 3. Third-Party Software: Look for third-party remote control software that is compatible with Windows 7 and supports the ATI remote. Some universal remote control software may work with a variety of devices. 4. Community Forums: Check out user forums or communities that focus on media center PCs, HTPCs, or remote controls. Other users who have faced similar issues may have found workarounds or alternative software solutions. 5. Virtual Machine: Consider setting up a virtual machine with a 32-bit version of Windows (like XP or Vista) within your Windows 7 system. This way, you can run the original remote control software within the virtual environment. 6. Custom Scripts: For advanced users, creating custom scripts or using tools like AutoHotkey to remap the remote control buttons may be a solution. This method requires some scripting knowledge but can be tailored to your specific needs. Attempting these steps may help you find a workaround or solution to operate the ATI HDTV Wonder remote control on your 64-bit Windows 7 system. If you encounter specific challenges during any of these steps, feel free to reach out for further assistance.
