I'm trying to play blu ray disks using Sony Optiarc BC-5500S USB BD ROM and Power DVD 9 Ultra Edition on my Acer 1810TZ which has Intel GMA 4500M chipset. OS is Windows 7.
I get the error message 'your disc drive does not support the playback for this content' when trying to play any Blu Ray discs.
The Cyberlink BD Advisor says the graphics card is capable of playback but the driver is not, despite the fact that it is the latest driver.
Any ideas?

  4. Update Graphics Drivers: Although you mentioned having the latest driver, try reinstalling the Intel GMA 4500M graphics driver. Sometimes a fresh installation can resolve compatibility issues.

    Verify System Requirements:

  5. System Requirements: Confirm that your system meets the requirements for Blu-ray playback as specified by CyberLink for PowerDVD 9 Ultra Edition.

    Additional Steps:

  6. Check HDCP Support: Ensure that your display, graphics card, and connection cables support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) for Blu-ray playback.
  7. PowerDVD Settings: Check the settings within PowerDVD for any specific configurations related to Blu-ray playback that might need adjustment.

    Further Recommendations:

    • If the issue persists, consider upgrading to a newer version of PowerDVD that may have better compatibility with your system and Blu-ray discs.
    • You could also try alternative Blu-ray player software to see if the issue is specific to PowerDVD.
By following these steps, you can narrow down the issue causing the error message and hopefully resolve the Blu-ray playback problem on your Acer 1810TZ laptop.
