I am trying to make an image backup of my hard drive
This drive is approx 100 GB used
On the windows 7 backup recovery I select the Image backup

On the Create a system image box

enabled On a hard disk
Iomega HDD ( J:) 818.48 GB free
After I press next

This is the message I get.

The Backup failed

There is not enough disk space to create the volume shadow copy on the storage location. Make sure that, for all volumes to be backup up, the minimum required disk space for shadow copy creation is available........
Thanks for any help, Gilles

I'm having a similar problem backing up to a 100GB drive. The drive shows 65GB+ available but will not back up due to lack of space. Typically non-system backups are only around 15GB or so. I have deleted all old backups except the original system image and have it set to NOT do a system image backup each time, so I am at a loss as to what could be causing this, Even if Windows IS trying to do a system image backup there should be enough room for one. Hopefully someone can help both of us.
