Help with start menu search

Look in the picture, I have a problem where no matter what i type in the search field nothing appears. It works for other user accounts but not mine. I have tried rebuilding the index, disable/then re-enable windows search and indexing services. I have also made sure in the start menu customizations pane that searching these things is enabled. Please help!

i could create a new user account but wat would be the easiest way to transfer all the settings and files over, or would i have to manually copy everything then change the settings for each program, i would like to see if a solution exists that does not require a major time investment

In the mean time i have just created a new user account and deleted the old one. However, a better solution to this problem must exist and would help other people who have run into this little bug. I would appreciate someone with more technical experience than myself dwell deeper into this problem.
