I have a homegroup set up for Computer1. Computer2 is on domain so it can only connection to Computer1's homegroup and not create it's own. That is fine Computer2 is able to join the homegroup and see the shared files. It can't however see the files in Computer1's libraries that are located in User/Public. I created a new library of Users/Public/Recorded TV and shared it with the homegroup but Computer2 does't see any folders in the library. If i add a folder to the library that is in the user/"Username" directory it works just fine. I have share public folders on. Any suggestions? Let me know if i need to clarify.

Solution
It seems like you're experiencing an issue with sharing specific folders from the User/Public directory on Computer1 to Computer2 via a homegroup setup. Here are some suggestions to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Suggestions to Resolve the Issue:

  1. Check HomeGroup Sharing Settings:
    • Ensure that both Computer1 and Computer2 are part of the same homegroup network and that they have the correct sharing settings enabled within the homegroup.
    []Sharing Permissions:
    • Verify the sharing permissions for the folders in the User/Public directory on Computer1. Make sure that the folders have the necessary sharing permissions applied to allow access from Computer2.

    ]Share the Parent Folder:
    • Instead of sharing specific folders within the User/Public directory, try sharing the entire User/Public directory itself. This can sometimes simplify sharing and accessing files across the network.
    []Network Discovery and File Sharing:
    • Check network discovery settings on both computers. Ensure that network discovery and file sharing are enabled on both Computer1 and Computer2 to allow seamless access to shared files.
    [
    ]Recreate Library:
    • Try recreating the library for the User/Public/Recorded TV folder on Computer1. Sometimes, recreating libraries can resolve issues related to folder visibility within shared networks.
    []Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings:
    • Verify that the firewall and antivirus settings on both computers are not blocking the file sharing. Temporarily disable the firewall and antivirus to see if it resolves the issue.
    [
    ]HomeGroup Advanced Sharing Settings:
    • Review the advanced sharing settings for the libraries on Computer1. Ensure that advanced sharing settings are correctly configured to allow access to libraries within the User/Public directory.

      Additional Steps:

      • If the issue persists after trying the above suggestions, you may consider removing and rejoining the computers to the homegroup or creating a new homegroup altogether.
      • Double-check the network connection and ensure that both computers are connected to the same network.
By following these suggestions and troubleshooting steps, you should be able to address the issue of Computer2 not being able to see the files within the libraries shared from the User/Public directory on Computer1. Let me know if you need further assistance or clarification on any of these steps.
