I'm trying to do perform a system image backup on another pc. I upgraded to Pro a while ago. Is there a way to check the ver of Windows on the system image backup file I have?

Thanks! :D

Solution
To check the version of Windows associated with a system image backup file, you can follow these steps:
  1. Mount the Backup Image:
    • Open the Control Panel.
    • Navigate to "System and Security" > "Backup and Restore (Windows 7)".
    • Click on the "Select another backup to restore files from" option.
    • Locate your system image backup and click Next. This will mount the backup image to view its contents.
    []View the Registry:
    • Once the backup image is mounted, you can access the Registry of the backed-up system.
    • Open the Windows Registry Editor by typing "regedit" in the Start menu search and press Enter.
    • In the Registry Editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows...

    • Here, you should see keys like ProductName, CurrentVersion, and EditionID. These keys can help you identify the Windows version.

    ]Check the Version Information:
    • Look at the ProductName, CurrentVersion, and EditionID values to determine the specific version and edition of Windows associated with the backup. By examining the registry settings within the mounted system image backup, you can find the relevant information regarding the Windows version of that particular system backup.
