Hi,

I opened three browsers; Firefox, Chrome & Opera in Windows 10.

I didn’t open any website in any browsers.

However, I see browsers are utilizing more process.
An image from 'How to manage browsers processing in Windows 10?'. Task Manager showing multiple processes of Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Word with low CPU and power usage.

Can I control it?

If yes, let me know, how to manage browsers processing so that it doesn’t utilize more processing in idle mode?

Windows version: Windows 10 21H2 (OS Build 19044.1415)

Processor: i5 8th Gen.

RAM: 12GB

Storage: SSD

To reduce the processing usage of your browsers in idle mode, you can take a few steps to manage them efficiently. Here are some suggestions to help you control the resource consumption of browsers like Firefox, Chrome, and Opera:

For Google Chrome:

  1. Extensions: Disable or remove unnecessary extensions that may be consuming resources.
  2. Hardware Acceleration: Settings > Advanced > System > Disable "Use hardware acceleration when available."
  3. Tab Management: Limit the number of open tabs, especially for memory-intensive websites.

    For Mozilla Firefox:

  4. Add-Ons: Review and disable any add-ons/extensions that are not essential.
  5. Performance Settings: Type "about:performance" in the...

  6. Tracking Protection: Enhance privacy and reduce resource usage with built-in tracking protection.

    For Opera:

  7. Battery Saver: Optimize power consumption with Battery Saver mode.
  8. Sidebar Extensions: Manage and disable sidebar extensions that are not frequently used.
  9. Turbo Mode: Enable Opera's Turbo mode to reduce data usage and potentially increase speed.

    System-Wide Recommendations:

  10. Idle Processes: Ensure that there are no background processes or applications that are utilizing excessive CPU or memory.
  11. Windows Performance Options: Adjust visual effects and performance settings.
  12. Task Manager: Monitor Resource Manager to identify which processes are consuming the most resources. By following these steps and optimizing the settings in your browsers and your system, you should be able to better control and minimize the processing usage of your browsers in idle mode, thereby improving system performance. Let me know if you need more detailed instructions on any specific optimization steps!
