Windows 7 How to prevent auto-connect to WLAN/Wifi network ?

When a program wants to access Internet but there is currently no connection then it seems to trigger the Win7 WLAN/Wifi service to search and auto-connect if possible to perform afterwards the actual task.

This auto-search+connect is comfortable for the most cases but sometimes I don't want to connect automatically to (known) wlan/wifi networks.

How can I tell Win7 to NOT auto-connect?

Solution
If the wireless networks are truly "known" networks, then each should have an individual profile.
Open the network and sharing center from the left column choose manage wireless networks. Right click each individual profile and choose properties. On the connection tab, uncheck the box that says "Connect automatically when this network is in range" click ok, reboot and launch a browser and see if the auto connection happens.
