In Xp Pro I was able to restore my system to a previous restore point of my selection going back months to the date I instatled the system. Is it possible to go back months in windows 7? I attempted to restore in windows 7 and was only able to go back to the beginnig of September. If so can someone indicate how to do this. Thank you in advance lexx

In Windows 7, the System Restore feature is designed to create restore points on a regular basis, typically before significant system changes like software installations or updates. These restore points are then used to revert your system back to a previous state in case of issues. Here's how you can potentially create a restore point going back months in Windows 7: 1. Accessing System Restore: - Go to the Start menu. - In the search box, type "System Restore" and select it from the list of results. 2. Checking Restore Points: - In the System Restore window, you can check the available restore points. Click on "Next" to see the list of restore points. 3. Choosing a Restore Point: - Select the option "Choose a different...

Choosing a Restore Point: - Select the option "Choose a different restore point" if you want to select a specific restore point. 4. Selecting a Date: - Check the available restore points based on the dates provided. You may not see restore points dating back several months, as Windows 7 typically manages these automatically. 5. Creating a Restore Point: - If you want to create a restore point at a specific date, you may need to manually create one. To do this, you can follow these steps: - Go to Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. - In the System Properties window, go to the System Protection tab. - Click on the "Create" button and follow the on-screen instructions to create a new restore point. While Windows 7 doesn't provide a direct option to choose restore points dating back several months like in Windows XP, you can manually create restore points at specific dates to have more control over the restoration process. If you have any further questions or need assistance with a particular step, feel free to ask!
