Ok, i have finally got Windows 7 to install. I love it! Anyway, it would not install if i were to put it in my older IDE DVD drive. I installed it via my other SATA DVD drive which went as it should've.
After installing Windows 7, i hooked my IDE drive back up and Windows will detect it but not do anything with any disks i put in that drive.
Any solutions?

It's great to hear that you were able to successfully install Windows 7 on your system! Regarding the issue with the IDE DVD drive not working properly after reattaching it to your system, there are a few potential solutions you can try to troubleshoot this problem:
Steps to Resolve Issues with IDE DVD Drive in Windows 7:
- Check Device Manager:
- First, check the Device Manager to see if the IDE DVD drive is recognized and properly installed.
- Right-click on "Computer" or "This PC," then click on "Manage" and select "Device Manager." Look for any yellow exclamation marks next to the DVD drive.
- If there are issues with the drivers, try updating or reinstalling them.
- Right-click on the DVD drive in Device Manager, select "Update driver," and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Ensure that the IDE drive is detected in the BIOS.
- Restart your computer and enter the BIOS settings (usually by pressing a key like F2 or Delete during startup).
- Look for the IDE drive in the BIOS settings under the storage or boot options.
- Verify that the IDE cable is securely connected to both the motherboard and the IDE drive.
- Check the jumper settings on the back of the IDE drive (Master, Slave, Cable Select). Ensure it is set correctly.
- Ensure that the IDE drive is properly connected to the IDE port on the motherboard.
- Also, check the power connection to the IDE drive to make sure it's receiving power.
- Try testing the IDE drive on another computer to see if it works there. This can help determine if the issue is with the drive itself.
- Make sure your Windows 7 system is up to date with the latest updates from Microsoft. Some updates may include fixes for hardware compatibility.
- Consider Compatibility Issues:
- Older IDE drives may have compatibility issues with newer systems. In such cases, you might need to consider upgrading to a SATA drive for better compatibility. Try these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with your IDE DVD drive in Windows 7. If you continue to experience problems, feel free to provide more details so we can assist you further.
