Internet Security in Windows 8, 8.1

Microsoft say that Windows Defender in Windows 8 and 8.1 is strong enough and there no need to other Internet Security software.
Is this true?

Hmm.. It isn't the best but neither is it the worst. Many of us here run Defender alongside Malwarebytes just for the added protection. Personally I've never had an issue using this set up:
