I did a clean install of Windows 7 from Vista because of some previous issues, thought all was well, but I am having some problems. I have a HP DV3z-1000 w/ Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I installed the drivers recommended by HP and made sure everything is updated.

1) I cannot get the fingerprint reader to work. It's an AuthenTec AES1610. Windows and the DigitalPersona software said it was undetected, so after trying repairing/ different drivers/uninstall & reinstalling, I uninstalled the drivers/software and figured I would start fresh. Am I supposed to uninstall from the device manager menu under biometrics? I tried making sure the device drivers were updated there too.

2) I cannot find the other computers or printers on my network, and they cannot see me. I have network discovery/sharing on, pwd protection off, checked the workgroup name, media streaming off, and am not using windows/homegroup to manage connections.

Thanks if you have made it this far.
