so i am trying to upgrade from VISTA to Window7. I have a compatibility issue. Window7 will not install with Microsoft OneCare installed. So I removed it using Add and Remove Programs. Well no luck. So I downloaded the OneCare Cleanup Utility. NO LUCK. I tried the clean up twice with shutdown between each try. I am lost. Can you recommend something to do.....

Regards

George

George, It seems you're experiencing difficulties removing Microsoft OneCare in order to upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 due to compatibility issues. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue: 1. Manual Uninstallation: - Ensure that you have successfully uninstalled Microsoft OneCare through the Control Panel's "Add and Remove Programs" feature. Sometimes, remnants of the program may still exist after uninstallation. 2. Safe Mode: - Try booting your computer into Safe Mode and then uninstall Microsoft OneCare. Safe Mode allows you to run Windows with only essential services, which might help in removing the program completely. 3. Registry Cleanup: - After uninstalling Microsoft OneCare, you can also check the Windows Registry for any leftover entries related to the program. Be cautious when editing the registry to avoid causing system issues. 4. Third-Party Uninstaller Tools: - Consider using third-party uninstaller tools like Revo Uninstaller or IOBit Uninstaller. These utilities can help in removing stubborn programs completely. 5. Compatibility Mode: - If you still face issues during the Windows 7 installation, you can try running the upgrade process in compatibility mode. Right-click on the installer, go to Properties, select the Compatibility tab, and choose an earlier Windows version. 6. Fresh Installation: - If all else fails, you might consider performing a clean installation of Windows 7 instead of an upgrade. This involves backing up your data, formatting the drive, and installing Windows 7 from scratch. By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the compatibility issue with Microsoft OneCare and proceed with the Windows 7 upgrade smoothly. Let me know if you need further assistance or encounter any challenges during the process. Best regards.
