Just ran Windows vista adviser, and it said my wireless network adapter (atheros wireless) is not compatible. I'm running Vista basic on the laptop and want to upgrade to premium. If my network adapter running fine on basic, why would it not run on premium Link Removed due to 404 Error ?

Which model Atheros?. My son is running one in Ultimate on a laptop and has no problems. He said he needed to download a new driver on initial installation but after that it was flawless. I had a look at a driver page and all models listed had updated Vista drivers. See here:

It is the Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter Already downloded/installed latest drivers.

I see on the link I gave you that it is totally compatible with Vista so I would just go ahead with your plan. It looks like maybe the MS advisor is out of date!
