I love the fact that the time from sleep to wake (appearance of logon screen) has been shortened in the upgrade; but I am experiencing even more, residual lag once I have logged on than with Vista. In other words, I get a logon screen fast and logged in fast; but nothing I click on to execute responds for quite some tim -- even longer total duration than the wait for wake in Vista. At least then, after waiting and once I logged on, everything was active. Is anyone else experiencing this issue and is there a solution??

It sounds like you are encountering a performance issue after logging into your upgraded system. While the login speed has improved, you are facing latency in executing tasks post-login, leading to a longer total wait time compared to your experience with Windows Vista. To address this issue, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Check for Background Processes

  • Review the Task Manager to identify any resource-intensive background processes that might be causing the lag.

    2. Update Drivers

  • Ensure that all your device drivers are up to date, especially graphics and chipset drivers, as outdated drivers can impact system performance.

    3. Disable Startup Programs

    3. Disable Startup Programs

  • Disable unnecessary startup programs that might be slowing down the system boot process and affecting post-login responsiveness.

    4. Disk Cleanup and Optimization

  • Perform disk cleanup and optimization to free up disk space and improve system performance.

    5. Check for Malware

  • Run a full system scan using an updated antivirus program to check for any malware or viruses that could be causing performance issues.

    6. Adjust Visual Effects

  • Decrease visual effects and animations in Windows settings to reduce the strain on system resources.

    7. Increase Virtual Memory

  • Adjust the virtual memory settings to improve system performance if you are running low on physical memory.

    8. Check for Windows Updates

  • Ensure that your system is up to date with the latest Windows updates and patches that might address performance-related issues.

    9. Reset Windows

  • As a last resort, consider resetting Windows to its default settings to eliminate any software-related issues causing the lag. By following these steps, you can potentially resolve the post-login lag issue you are experiencing. If the problem persists, it might be helpful to seek additional assistance from the Windows community or a technical support professional to diagnose and address the underlying cause of the performance issue.
