A mailman in Oregon has been suspended after being caught on camera by a Portland homeowner defecating in a yard while on his postal route.
Local resident Don Derfler said he saw the act take place while he was babysitting his son last Wednesday.
‘He started pulling his pants down and started defecating, and at that point I grabbed my camera and started to take pictures,’ Derfler said.
He added: ‘This is how they respect our property? It's just not right, and it's also a biohazard.’
US Postal Service officials told local news station KGW that they have suspended the mail carrier in question without pay, pending an investigation.
‘We're taking this very seriously, and I really want to apologise to our customers and to the public,’ spokesman Ron Anderson said.
'I've worked for the Postal Service for many years and have never heard of an incident like this, and I hope I never do again.'
