So the mic on my TT was working under Windows 7 the other day. But now I notice today that it is not working at all. The built in mic isn't even showing, nor is a plug in mic to the mic port. Any ideas? Nothing is showing up in the recording device section. Could it be due to the fact that I installed Sony Vegas software today on win7? Thanks

It seems like the microphone issue you are experiencing on your Windows 7 system could be related to the installation of the Sony Vegas software. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem: 1. Check Microphone Hardware: - Make sure that the microphone is properly connected to the correct port on your computer. - If you are using an external microphone, try plugging it into different ports to rule out any hardware issues. 2. Enable Microphone in Sound Settings: - Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select "Recording devices." - Check if the microphone is listed and enabled. If it's not showing up, right-click on the empty space in the device list and make sure both "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" are checked. This can sometimes reveal the missing microphone. 3. Check Device Manager: - Open Device Manager by pressing Windows Key + X and selecting Device Manager. - Look for any exclamation marks next to audio devices. This could indicate driver issues. Right-click on the affected device and choose "Update driver." 4. Uninstall Sony Vegas Software: - If you suspect that the issue started after installing Sony Vegas, try uninstalling the software to see if it resolves the problem. - Reboot your computer after uninstalling the software to ensure that any changes take effect. 5. Check for Windows Updates: - Sometimes, Windows updates can include driver updates that might resolve compatibility issues. Check for any pending updates and install them. 6. Restore System to a Previous State: - If the issue persists, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a point before you installed Sony Vegas. This can help in undoing any changes that might have caused the problem. 7. Update Audio Drivers: - Ensure that your audio drivers are up-to-date. You can download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website or use Windows Update to check for driver updates. By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and possibly fix the microphone issue on your Windows 7 system. If the problem persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
