I'd like to minimize a program to the hidden icon window in the task bar. Is this possible with windows 7? I use to run a program on XP called 4t tray Minimizer and I'm homing I don't have to fall back to that in order to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Minimizing a program to the system tray or hidden icon window in the taskbar is indeed possible in Windows 7 without the need for additional software like 4t Tray Minimizer. Here's how you can achieve this:

Minimize Programs to System Tray in Windows 7

To minimize a program to the system tray, you can follow these steps in Windows 7:
  1. Minimize to System Tray: Most newer applications in Windows 7 support minimizing to the system tray out of the box. To do this, simply try minimizing the program using the standard minimize button. If the program supports this feature, it will minimize to the system tray automatically.

  2. Third-Party Tools: If the program doesn't natively support minimizing to the system tray, you can use third-party tools like RBTray or TrayIt! These tools allow you to minimize any program to the system tray.

How to Use RBTray to Minimize Programs

RBTray is a lightweight and easy-to-use tool that allows you to minimize almost any program to the system tray. Here's how you can use it:
  3. Download RBTray: You can download RBTray from a trusted source online.
  4. Run RBTray: After downloading, run the RBTray executable.
  5. Minimize Programs: To minimize a program to the system tray, simply right-click on the program's minimize button instead of left-clicking. This will send the program to the system tray.
  6. Restore Programs: To restore a program from the system tray, just click on its system tray icon. Using RBTray, you can replicate the functionality of 4t Tray Minimizer on Windows 7 without reverting to the older XP software. By following these steps, you should be able to minimize programs to the hidden icon window in the taskbar on Windows 7 without the need for additional software. Let me know if you need further assistance or clarification!
