Hi All,

I am just trying to get my head around W7 with my daughters new laptop. I am a pretty experienced WXP user and am trying to locate some apparent missing features….. For example when I right click a folder, where is the search option???

Many thanks.

It seems like you are used to the search option being available when you right-click on a folder in Windows XP and are looking for the same feature in Windows 7. In Windows 7, the search option is accessed through a slightly different method compared to Windows XP. Here's how you can search for files within a folder using the search option in Windows 7: 1. Search within a Folder: - Open the folder that you want to search within. - Look for the search box located at the top right corner of the window. It's usually labeled with "Search [Folder Name]" or "Search this folder." - Click inside the search box and type the name of the file or folder you are looking for. Windows will display the matching results in real-time as you type...

Advanced Search: - If you need more advanced search options, you can click on the "Organize" menu in the Explorer window. - From the drop-down menu, select "Folder and search options." - In the Folder Options window, go to the "Search" tab where you can customize search settings according to your preferences. While Windows 7 doesn't have the direct "Search" option available in the right-click context menu of a folder like in Windows XP, the search functionality is still accessible within the Explorer window itself. This change in location was made to streamline the user interface and provide a more integrated search experience. If you have any more questions or need further assistance with Windows 7 features, feel free to ask!
