Well, here's my situation. I have 3 computers, and 4 android devices. (I never throw things away) I want them all to play music simultaneously, BUT, be controlled by the main computer. Here are the technical details

MAIN COMPUTER:
Dell Inspiron 530
Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.4 Ghz
3GB RAM
Win 7 64-bit

OTHER COMPUTERS:
Windows 8.1 & Windows XP Home

ANDROIDS:
Samsung Galaxy S3 (SCH-S960L)) (4.1.2)
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012) (GT-N8013) (4.1.2)
Huawei Ascend Y (H866C) (2.3.6)
HTC Wildfire S (US CELLULAR) (2.3.4)

I'd like a program/app that is compatible across at least the Windows 7/8 computers & the Samsung devices that can stream simultaneously to them.

Solution
To synchronize music playback across multiple devices and control them from your main computer running Windows 7, you can use media server software like Plex, which supports a wide range of devices including Windows, Android, and Samsung devices. Here's how you can set it up:

Setting up Plex for Music Streaming:

  1. Install Plex Media Server on the Main Computer (Dell Inspiron 530):
    • Visit the Plex website and download the Plex Media Server for Windows.
    • Install the Plex Media Server on your Dell Inspiron 530.
    • Set up your media library within Plex and include your music collection.
  2. Install Plex App on Windows 8.1 Computer & Windows XP Computer:

    • Install the Plex app on each computer.
    • Open the Plex app and link it to your Plex Media Server by signing in with your Plex account.
  3. Install Plex App on Samsung Android Devices:
    • Open the Google Play Store on each Samsung Android device.
    • Search for and install the Plex app from the Play Store.
    • Open the Plex app on each device and log in with your Plex account details.
  4. Setting up Music Playback:
    • Within the Plex app on each device, navigate to your music library.
    • Select the music you want to play and choose the option to play it on all devices simultaneously.
  5. Controlling Playback:
    • From your Dell Inspiron 530, use the Plex web interface or the Plex app to control playback on all devices.
    • You should be able to manage the play, pause, skip tracks, and volume control from the main computer.

      Additional Notes:

      • Ensure that all devices are connected to the same network for seamless synchronization.
      • Plex supports a wide range of media formats, so your music should play across all your devices.
Plex offers a user-friendly interface and is compatible with various operating systems and devices, making it a suitable solution for your music streaming needs across your Windows and Samsung devices.
