Hi, everyone reading this!

I've been having some problems with my computer's power saving mode for a long time now. Everytime I put my computer in power saving mode and when later trying to start it up has always resulted in a BSOD. Somehow that problem has been solved mysteriously some months ago.

Today my power saving mode works like this:
1. I put the computer into power saving mode and wait until the fan is silent.
2. I press the power button on my computer and I hear the computer fan running but the screen does not get any signal, the screen is completely black.
3. I hold the power for about 10 seconds and then the computer goes off.
4. I wait some seconds until I press the power button again, this time I get an image which says (not sure if I translated correct) "Windows resumes". This part takes pretty long time and if I don't wait long enough everything feels really slow, laggy and choppy.

Here are some computer specs:
Windows 7 64-bit
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 760 @ 2.80GHz 2.80GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
Motherboard: ASUS P7P55D-E LX
Monitor: BenQ G2420HD (Digital)

Do you have any idea what I can do to make the power saving mode work properly and faster?

Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with your computer's power saving mode, specifically when resuming from it. The steps you provided indicate a delay in the process, leading to sluggish performance upon resuming. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to address this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps for Power Saving Mode Issues:

  1. Update Graphics Drivers:
    • Outdated graphics drivers can sometimes cause issues with power saving modes. Try updating your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 drivers to the latest version from the NVIDIA website.

    []Check Power Settings:
    • Verify your power settings in Windows 7 to ensure they are configured correctly for your needs.
      • Go to Control Panel > Power Options and adjust the settings to optimize performance for power saving mode.
    [
    ]BIOS Update:
    • Ensure your motherboard BIOS is up to date. Check ASUS's website for any available BIOS updates for your specific motherboard model (P7P55D-E LX) and follow the instructions to update it.
    []Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs:
    • Too many startup programs can slow down your computer's boot time. Disable unnecessary programs from automatically starting up with Windows.
      • You can manage startup programs via Task Manager > Startup tab.
    [
    ]Check for Malware:
    • Perform a full scan with your antivirus software to check for any malware that could be affecting the system's performance.
    []Monitor System Resources:
    • Use Task Manager to monitor resource usage when the computer is slow during the "Windows resumes" phase. Identify any processes consuming excessive resources.
    [
    ]Check Hard Drive Health:
    • A failing hard drive can cause delays in system responsiveness. Use tools like CrystalDiskInfo to check the health of your hard drive.
  2. Enable Fast Startup:
    • In Power Options, enable Fast Startup to help speed up the boot process.
      • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable > Check the box for "Turn on fast startup."

        Additional Tips:

        • Ensure that your system has sufficient free disk space.
        • Keep your system and drivers updated regularly.
        • Consider upgrading to a more recent version of Windows for better performance and security features.
By following these steps, you can potentially improve the performance and speed of your computer when resuming from power saving mode. If the issue persists, further troubleshooting or professional assistance may be required.
