Windows 10 New Notebook Space Issues

I just purchased an HP laptop with a 128 GB M.2 SSD Hard Drive. Besides the original setup and adding some basic programs, I've done very little in a week.

But my C: Drive has already used 42% (only 69GB free) A further disk analysis shows that, of the total used, Windows has used 30% (14.94GB), User 25% (12.62GB), System Volume Information 22% (11.15GB). Of the 12.62GB by User, App data is 9.15GB (76%).

Can someone please tell me why Windows uses so much, what is and what can I do about System Info and App Data?

Well you said "Windows has used 30% (14.94GB) " should only be around 11% so did you not partition the whole drive or do you have another partition setup on it?

Press [Windows key + x] > Disk Management and post a screenshot.

Windows 10 takes up 16ish GB because frankly that's how big the OS is. It will also consume more space as updates are installed there is no way around that. You could turn of the system restores and that would save you most of that 11GB in the system volume and turn off hibernate to get rid of the hibernate file.

God bless you. You inspire confidence. I might consider reducing the %age of space allocated for Restore to minimum. Just to have maybe one? Will turn of hibernate. Anything I can do with Application Data?

Depends on what the data is but usually you can clean it up. You'd need to drill down further

Thanks Neemobeer. After reducing System Restore to 1% and disabling hibernation, a good chunk of disk space was recovered. I'll monitor it and look into the App Data, too. I'll get back if I need help. Once again, I appreciate your wisdom and time.
