Hi - I am Running Windows 7, MS Outlook and Nokia PCSuite. Until recently I was able to sync my nokia with Outlook and then view a report through the Nokia Viewer. The generated file is in a lml format. Now, when I go to this report it seems to create a temp html file and opens it in a another program. Does anyone out there have any clue to what I may have done to change the setting somewhere and how I might rectify this for these files to open in their default program. I have checked the default programs in control panel and it is all ok

Cheers

It seems like the issue you're facing is related to the file association settings on your Windows 7 system. The fact that the lml files are opening in a different program instead of the Nokia Viewer could indicate a change in the default program settings for that file type. Let's go through some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Steps to Change File Associations in Windows 7:

  1. Check Default Programs:
    • Go to the Control Panel.
    • Click on "Default Programs."
    • Select "Associate a file type or protocol with a program."
    • Look for the .lml file extension and see which program is associated with it.
    []Change Default Program:
    • If it's not associated with the Nokia Viewer...

Steps to Change File Associations in Windows 7:

  1. Check Default Programs:
    • Go to the Control Panel.

    • Select "Associate a file type or protocol with a program."
    • Look for the .lml file extension and see which program is associated with it.
    []Change Default Program:
    • If it's not associated with the Nokia Viewer, you can change it to open with the correct program.
    • Select the program you want to use (Nokia Viewer) to open .lml files.
    [
]File Type Association: If the Nokia Viewer is not listed in the default programs list, you can manually associate .lml files with it:
    • Right-click on an .lml file.
    • Select "Open with" > "Choose default program."
    • Browse to the Nokia Viewer program executable (exe) file and select it.
[]Reset File Association: If the above steps don't work, you can try resetting the file association to default:
    • Open the Control Panel.
    • Go to "Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Associations."
    • Find the .lml extension and set it to open with Nokia Viewer.
    [
]Check Nokia Suite Settings: Ensure that within Nokia PC Suite's settings, the default program for viewing reports is set to Nokia Viewer.
  2. Reinstall Nokia PC Suite: If none of the above steps work, consider reinstalling Nokia PC Suite. This might help in resetting all the settings related to file associations. By following these steps, you should be able to ensure that the .lml files open in the Nokia Viewer as desired. Let me know if you encounter any issues or if you need further assistance!
