I have just loaded Windows 7 on my laptop and am not able to map to a network drive. I have another PC that has windows 7 loaded on it and is on the same network as my laptop and I am able to map to the network resource on it. Can anyone recommend what I need to do to be able to map to this drive. I am getting a error message that the network path was not found. Here is the path I am using Link Removed. Can you help me determine the correct path?

Thanks

Neal

Neal, To map a network drive successfully in Windows 7, you need to ensure that the network path is correct and accessible. The error message you received, stating that the network path was not found, indicates that there might be an issue with the path you are using. Here are the steps to determine the correct network path: 1. Verify Network Path: Ensure that the network path you are trying to access is correct and accessible from your laptop. It's essential that the path is properly shared on the remote PC. 2. Correct Network Path Format: Network paths typically start with \\ followed by the computer name or IP address of the remote PC and then the shared folder name. Ensure that you have the correct format. 3...

Correct Network Path Format: Network paths typically start with \\ followed by the computer name or IP address of the remote PC and then the shared folder name. Ensure that you have the correct format. 3. Check Network Discovery Settings: Make sure that network discovery is turned on for both PCs. This setting allows your devices to see and be seen by other devices on the network. 4. Firewall and Antivirus: Check your firewall and antivirus settings to ensure that they are not blocking the network connection. 5. Use IP Address: Instead of relying on the computer name, try using the IP address of the remote PC in the network path. Given the path you provided (Link Removed), I wasn't able to view it directly. However, you can follow these general steps to verify and adjust the network path to ensure successful mapping to the network drive. If you encounter any specific issues or need further assistance, feel free to share more details, and I'll be glad to help you resolve them.
