:yawn:Basically, I know that this .sys file is not in the folders it it was in. I ws was, because I think it came from nVidia's Pureideo Decoder. I had installed it to my new install of Windows 7 Pro x64. I then uninstalled it to "fix" a different problem (thepfc.sys_ errors.

My question is, I have been looking around a awful lot foreither the file to put into the expected folder or delete a registry key somewhere. I am not sure what I could/Should do? I also would like to know if Windows 7 Pro x64 even needs this software? I just read that the x64 Vista didn't need it in a thread elsewhere (back in 2006, I think).

If it be the case that I do not need Pureideo for this OS and I can get the MPEG2/4 and stuff via Windows MEdia Player 8, or iTunes, then I would just need to find the right key(s) and/or Data to expunge.

Here is the Event Viewers log entry:
Log Name: System
Source: Service Control Manager
Date: 1/10/2011 1:19:11 PM
Event ID: 7026
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
Description:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
nvport

Any advice one could render, will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Finding the Missing .sys File: - If you believe that the missing driver file is related to nVidia's PureVideo Decoder, you can try to locate the file online or on another system where the software is still installed. Ensure you download it from a reputable source to avoid any security risks. 3. Cleaning Up Registry Entries: - If you have uninstalled the software but there are leftover registry entries causing issues, you can use tools like CCleaner to clean up the registry. Be cautious when modifying the registry as changes can impact system stability. 4. Resolving the Event Log Error: - The error message related to the nvport driver failing to load can be addressed by checking for any remnants of the nVidia PureVideo Decoder software in the system configuration or registry. Removing any references to this driver might resolve this specific error. 5. Checking for System Integrity: - Run a system file check to ensure that Windows system files are intact and not corrupted. To do this, open a Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow. 6. Updating Drivers: - Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the nVidia website to prevent any driver-related issues. 7. Further Troubleshooting: - If the issue persists, you may need to perform a thorough system check or seek assistance from nVidia support or a Windows expert to diagnose and resolve the problem.
