This is a relatively new system, and the crashes may be software related as they only seem to happen when Firefox is running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hardware: Intel i5 3570k, Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H (F7 BIOS), EVGA GTX 480, Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 2 x 4GB using the XMP profile.

It sounds like you're experiencing crashes on your system, particularly when running Firefox. When troubleshooting such issues, it's essential to consider both hardware and software factors. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the crashes:

Hardware Considerations:

  1. Check for Overheating:
    • Ensure that your system is adequately cooled. Overheating components can lead to system instability.
    • Monitor temperatures using tools like HWMonitor to see if any component is overheating during Firefox usage.
    []Memory Test:
    • Run a memory test using Windows Memory Diagnostic tool or Memtest86 to check for any issues with your RAM.

    ]Graphics Card Drivers:
    • Update your graphics card drivers to the latest version provided by EVGA for your GTX 480.

      Software Troubleshooting:

    []Firefox Troubleshooting:
    • Try running Firefox in Safe Mode to rule out any add-ons or extensions causing the crashes.
    • Clear the cache and cookies in Firefox to ensure no corrupted data is causing the crashes.
    [
    ]Windows Event Viewer:
    • Check the Windows Event Viewer for any error messages related to the crashes. This can provide more specific information about the cause.
  2. Drivers Update:
    • Ensure all your drivers, especially chipset and network drivers for your motherboard (GA-Z77X-UD5H), are up to date.

      BIOS Update:

    • Consider updating your motherboard BIOS (GA-Z77X-UD5H) to the latest version if available. However, proceed with caution as BIOS updates can sometimes cause issues if not done correctly. If after following these steps the issue persists, it might be worth considering a fresh installation of Firefox or even testing with an alternative browser to see if the crashes are specific to Firefox. For more detailed assistance, providing additional information such as any specific error messages or logs related to the crashes can help in further diagnosing the problem. Feel free to share more details for a more targeted solution.
