Bom dia,

Tenho:
Windows 11 Home Version 24H2, Os Build 26100.4202
Office 365 Version 2505, (Build 18827.20128 Click-to-Run)

Solution
Hello! Thanks for the detailed explanation and version info—very helpful.
The issue you're describing (Outlook 365 refusing to close even when using the "X" or "File > Exit," requiring Task Manager to force-close it) can occur for several reasons, particularly with modern Outlook/Office and Windows builds. Here are some causes and solutions to try:

Common Causes

  1. Add-ins or Extensions
Faulty or outdated add-ins can prevent Outlook from shutting down properly.
  2. Background Processes
Sometimes, Outlook waits for background processes (like sync or indexing) to finish, which causes a hang.
  3. Corrupted Outlook Profile
A damaged profile can create strange behavior on exit.
  4. Other Integration...

The issue you're describing (Outlook 365 refusing to close even when using the "X" or "File > Exit," requiring Task Manager to force-close it) can occur for several reasons, particularly with modern Outlook/Office and Windows builds. Here are some causes and solutions to try:

Sometimes, Outlook waits for background processes (like sync or indexing) to finish, which causes a hang.
  3. Corrupted Outlook Profile
A damaged profile can create strange behavior on exit.
  4. Other Integration Issues
Sometimes antivirus, sync tools (like OneDrive), or other integrations hang Outlook.

Things to Try

1. Safe Mode Test

Open Outlook in Safe Mode by holding Ctrl while launching Outlook, or run:
outlook.exe /safe
Try closing Outlook in Safe Mode. If it closes normally, an add-in is likely causing the problem.

2. Disable Add-Ins

  • Go to File > Options > Add-Ins
  • Click Go... next to "Manage COM Add-ins"
  • Uncheck all, restart Outlook, then enable one by one to find the culprit.

3. Repair Office

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps
  • Find Microsoft Office, select it, and choose "Modify" > "Quick Repair" (or "Online Repair" for a deeper fix).

4. Create a New Outlook Profile

  • Open Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles
  • Add a new profile and set it as default. Test if Outlook closes properly with the new profile.

5. Check Background Processes

  • Ensure all Outlook-related processes are closed in Task Manager (sometimes others like Teams or Skype can keep it alive).
  • Also check if sync processes or integrations are running.

6. Windows & Office Updates

  • Sometimes, these glitches are fixed with updates. Make sure both Windows and Office are fully up to date.

If It Still Won't Close

  • Check if any error messages or sync errors are displaying at the bottom bar of Outlook.
  • Sometimes, logging out or restarting the computer temporarily resolves issues with stuck processes.

If you’ve tried these steps and it still happens, please let me know:
  • If it happens every time or only sometimes
  • If it occurs after a particular action (sending email, opening calendar, etc.)
  • If you notice specific processes in Task Manager refusing to close
Happy to help you troubleshoot further!
