Windows 7 Partition Magic and Windows 7 - Partitions Unaccessible

I made a mistake in letting Partition Magic 8 "repair" my HD. now I have lost my partitions except my C:
D:, E:, F:, G: are gone and I can't even access them in Windows 7 disc management. When I tried to assign drive letters to each partition, I receive an error message "The opreation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up-to-date. Refresh the view by using the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer".

Please help, I would really like to recover the data in my lost partitions.

I tried using Testdisk and it can see all the paritions, but it shows all the partitions as deleted. When I tried to change more than one partitions to L (Logical), it shows that the strucutre is Bad. Am I missinf a step here?

After backing up the data, I did not have much luck with Parition Table Doctor. So I went ahead and reinstalled windows 7 on my C:

To my suprise, all my partitions are back after a clean install of Windows 7.

Yeah, Partition Magic is no good for Windows 7.

You may find some kind of success by using R-Studio or Recuva to recover files. If not, look into a partition restore software. Maybe others will recommend one or some. I think I used something called Active Partition Recovery Enterprise a long time ago successfully for someone with a similar problem.

Partiton Magic is not compatible with Windows Vista onwards and for future reference partition management should only ever be undertaken after backing up any important data. If you had any data you desperately need to recover you need to get specialist help - you are likely to do more harm than good installing and running recovery "wizards". If you want to try yourself you could use something like ZAR from here (trial is free but to actually recover anay data you will need to buy - depends how important your files are):

For subsequent partition management you can use easeaus partition manger from here:

Depends on how important the data is (was). If not critical then have a try with some of the recovery software but you must be aware it can do more harm than good and further reduce your chances of recovery.

Very much agree with Pat. User circumspect actions are always a big plus. Both before and after the mistake.

I have tried Recuva and Undelete Plus, not on deleted partitions though.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
Right now I am recovering data by using Easus Recover Wizard and saving them on an external drive. Fingers crossed everything will be good. I would have to format the partitions aftewards.

Well I'll be!!! . . . If anyone had suggested trying that I'd have given odds of 1000 to 1 against!
