Conexant AC-97 laptop audio is screwing up. It sounds like a CD that skips CONSTANTLY. Sometimes the sound starts normally and then gradually starts to screw up.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers. Does anyone have any ideas?

[]Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date as updates can sometimes include fixes for audio-related issues. []Check for Hardware Issues:
    • Test the audio output with headphones to determine if the issue is with the speakers.
    • If possible, try using an external speaker to see if the issue persists.
[]BIOS Update: Check if there is an updated BIOS version for your laptop that addresses audio-related issues. []Check for Conflicting Software: Some third-party software or applications can interfere with audio playback. Try closing unnecessary programs running in the background to see if it resolves the issue.
  4. System File Checker: Run the System File Checker tool to scan for and repair corrupted system files.
    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    • Allow the scan to complete and follow any prompts to repair system files if needed. By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and potentially resolve the audio issues you're experiencing with your Conexant AC-97 laptop audio.
