Tenho o Microsoft Edge na versão: Version 149.0.4022.69 (Official build) (64-bit)
Tenho o Windows Home na versão:

Edition Windows 11 Home
Version 25H2
Installed on ‎12/‎10/‎2024
OS build 26200.8655
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.315.0

Obrigado

Hi Curious,
From your description, this looks more like an Edge profile / cookies / privacy / extension problem than a Windows problem. The strongest clue is that Chrome works and the same process works on your son’s computer.
I would not start by deleting every “Microsoft Edge” folder. In Windows 11, Edge and Edge WebView2 are used by other Windows components, so deleting folders manually can cause more problems. Start with the safer steps below.

1. Test Edge without your normal profile

  1. Open Edge.
  2. Press Ctrl + Shift + N to open InPrivate mode.
  3. Go to [Início - Universo](https://www.universo.pt).
  4. Try the login and device association again.
Expected result:
If the email arrives in InPrivate, the problem is probably cookies, cached site data, an extension, tracking prevention, or your Edge profile.

2. Disable extensions temporarily

  1. Open Edge.
  2. Go to:
edge://extensions
  1. Turn off all extensions, especially ad blockers, privacy blockers, security add-ons, password managers, or VPN-related extensions.
  2. Close Edge completely.
  3. Reopen Edge and test Universo again.
If it works, turn extensions back on one by one until you find the cause.

3. Clear only Universo site data

  1. Open Edge.
  2. Go to:
edge://settings/siteData
  1. Search for:
universo
  1. Delete all entries related to universo.pt.
  2. Also search for possible bank/authentication related entries if shown.
  3. Restart Edge.
  4. Try the login again.
This is safer than clearing everything.

4. Check cookies, pop-ups, and tracking prevention

  1. Open:
edge://settings/privacy
  1. Set Tracking prevention to Balanced temporarily.
  2. Open:
edge://settings/content/cookies
  1. Make sure cookies are not being blocked for universo.pt.
  2. Open:
edge://settings/content/popups
  1. Add universo.pt to the Allow list if pop-ups or redirects are blocked.
  2. Restart Edge and test again.
Some banking sites fail silently if cookies, redirects, or tracking components are blocked.

5. Reset Edge settings

This keeps favorites and saved passwords, but resets startup pages, new tab page, pinned tabs, search engine, cookies, and extensions.
  1. Open Edge.
  2. Go to:
edge://settings/reset
  1. Choose Restore settings to their default values.
  2. Confirm with Reset.
  3. Restart Edge.
  4. Test Universo again.

6. Create a new Edge profile

This is often the best test before reinstalling.
  1. Open Edge.
  2. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Choose Set up new personal profile or Add profile.
  4. Do not sync anything yet.
  5. Open Universo in the new profile.
  6. Try the login and device association.
Expected result:
If it works in the new profile, your old Edge profile is corrupted or has a bad setting.

7. Repair Microsoft Edge

Microsoft’s supported method is Repair, not manual deletion.
  1. Close Edge.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Go to Apps > Installed apps.
  4. Search for Microsoft Edge.
  5. Click the three dots ....
  6. Choose Modify.
  7. Approve the UAC prompt.
  8. Click Repair.
Note: This normally keeps your browser data.

8. Clean Edge profile reset without deleting the program

If you want a “clean” Edge experience, rename the Edge user data folder instead of deleting it.
Before doing this, make sure your favorites/passwords are synced or exported.
  1. Close Edge.
  2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
  3. In Task Manager, end all msedge.exe processes.
  4. Press Win + R.
  5. Enter:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Edge
  1. Rename this folder:
User Data
to:
User Data.old
  1. Start Edge again.
Edge will create a new clean profile. If something goes wrong, close Edge and rename User Data.old back to User Data.

9. Full reinstall method, if still needed

Use this only after trying the steps above.
  1. Backup or sync your Edge data first.
  2. Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  3. Search for Microsoft Edge.
  4. If Uninstall is available, uninstall it.
  5. Restart Windows.
  6. Download Microsoft Edge again from Microsoft’s official Edge download page.
  7. Install it.
  8. Test Universo before signing into Edge Sync.
Important: Do not manually delete all folders named Microsoft Edge from Program Files, Program Files (x86), or Windows system folders. That can damage Edge WebView2 or Windows components.

My recommended order

  1. Test in InPrivate.
  2. Disable extensions.
  3. Clear universo.pt site data.
  4. Set tracking prevention to Balanced.
  5. Try a new Edge profile.
  6. Use Repair.
  7. Rename User Data as a clean reset.
  8. Reinstall only if everything else fails.
If you test InPrivate and a new Edge profile, please report which one works or fails. That will tell us whether the issue is a simple Edge profile problem or something deeper in Windows/network security.

Thank you for your help.
I followed your steps up to step 5 and the LOGIN already worked with sending the Mail.
In Option 4 "edge://settings/privacy" I reset "Tracking prevention" to "Strict" and it worked too.
Problem solved.

Great news, Curious — glad it’s solved!
Since it worked after the steps up to step 5, and still works with Tracking prevention back on Strict, the likely cause was one of these:
  • Corrupted or outdated site data/cookies for universo.pt
  • A temporary Edge profile/cache issue
  • A site permission or stored login/session conflict
You can leave Tracking prevention on Strict if the bank site continues to work normally.

Suggested final check

  1. Close Edge completely.
  2. Reopen Edge.
  3. Try the Universo login once more.
  4. Confirm that the device association email still arrives.
If it keeps working, no further action is needed.
No reinstall is necessary now. This avoids unnecessary risk and keeps your Edge profile intact.
Thanks for reporting back — it will help others with similar Edge/banking login issues.
