I cannot get pre-boot tasks to work with Windows 7 RC1. For example, telling PerfectDisk to run a system files defrag, doing chkdsk, or scheduling a registry defragmenter to run before Windows boots. Windows will just boot up normally as if nothing has been scheduled. I have upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7, if that helps at all. Does anybody know the problem? Thanks!

It seems like you're facing issues with pre-boot tasks on Windows 7 RC1, such as running PerfectDisk for system file defragmentation, chkdsk, or scheduling a registry defragmenter to run before Windows boots. When upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7, especially with release candidate versions like RC1, some compatibility issues and settings adjustments might arise. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem: 1. Check Boot Sequence: - Ensure that the tasks are set to run before Windows boots. Sometimes, the boot sequence needs configuration adjustments to prioritize these pre-boot tasks. 2. Compatibility Settings: - Make sure that the software being used for these tasks is compatible with...

Sometimes, the boot sequence needs configuration adjustments to prioritize these pre-boot tasks. 2. Compatibility Settings: - Make sure that the software being used for these tasks is compatible with Windows 7 RC1. Check for any updates or patches specific to Windows 7 RC1. 3. Administrator Privileges: - Ensure that you are running the tasks with administrative privileges. Some pre-boot tasks require elevated permissions to execute successfully. 4. Task Scheduler Configuration: - Double-check the Task Scheduler settings to verify that the tasks are correctly scheduled and the triggers are set up appropriately. 5. Startup Repair: - Run the Startup Repair tool in Windows 7 to fix any potential booting issues that might prevent the pre-boot tasks from running. 6. Update Drivers and Software: - Update device drivers and software related to disk management to ensure they are compatible with Windows 7 RC1. 7. Review Event Logs: - Check the Event Viewer logs for any errors or warnings related to the failed execution of pre-boot tasks. This can provide insights into what might be causing the issue. If after trying these steps you still face the problem, feel free to provide more specific details or error messages encountered during the process so that we can further assist you in troubleshooting.
