Hi all! :)

Im currently running the Windows 7 RTM, and im having a little problem with my sound driver!

it keeps installing a standard driver that comes with Windows 7, and i keep getting this message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

I have managed to download the latest driver for it, but when i try to manually install it/update driver, it says "the best driver is currently installed"
And the second i uninstall it, it installs it again straight away using the standard drivers that come with Windows 7... is there any way of stopping this?

This is the computer i have Shuttle United Kingdom - Home

The sound card is built in to the motherboard and its a "Realtek ALC880 7.1 channel High Definition
audio"

Any chance someone can help me stop it installing the standard HD Audio driver when i uninstall it, so i can just install the one i have downloaded?

Or have any other solutions?

Cheers!!

Hello and welcome to the windows7forums.

Try going to Control Panel > Device Manager and remove the present driver.

Now run the setup for the new driver.

Did you get the driver directly from Realtek's site here:
