Windows 7 quick question on doing a clean instal from upgrade

So I have the 7100 build and I am just going to do a clean install option from the home premium upgrade. my question is, do I need to fully install VISTA or will it just ask me to verify I have a prior windows copy by providing the cd-key?

7100 is a qualified OS for upgrade, you do not need Vista. You cannot normally upgrade from the RC to the RTM. Just do a custom install.

If you do use Vista, according to Microsoft, it must be installed and activated.
