I have an HP 20 All in One desk top. I use two HP Pocket Media external drives, plugged into USB.

Suffice it to say that there have been many Win8 updates in the year I have had it. And changes with some other problems too. Mysterious things happen from week to week, month to month. Some have been remedied and some have never been remedied and couldn't be in the past. Some mysteriously cured themselves with time probably due to Microsoft fixes and updates.

One that is persistent is that when I boot up it won't recognize my "F" drive an HP Pocket Media external plug in. When I unplug it and plug it back in it then recognizes. Not a big deal but a little bit annoying.

Can I fix it and how ?

........... When I unplug it and plug it back in it then recognizes................

First and only thought came to my mind is faulty USB connection.
Try using another USB port.
