I have problem in renaming my pictures' file names in the folder with my Windows Vista Home Premium PC. e.g. I have 100 photos in a folder and I want to rename all files using "Summer Vacation 2007". After renaming, the first photo becomes "Summer Vacation 2007 (2)" instead of "Summer Vacation 2007 (1) and the last photo becomes "Summer Vacation 2007 (1)" instead of "Summer Vacation 2007 (100). Before I do the renaming, I sort all photos in the folder by "Date Taken" and select "Ascending". I don't have this problem with Windows XP before. Can anyone help? Thanks.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with file renaming and numbering of your photos in Windows Vista. This behavior might be due to how Windows Vista is handling the file renaming process. To rename the files in sequential order starting from "Summer Vacation 2007 (1)" to "Summer Vacation 2007 (100)" after sorting by "Date Taken," you can use a different approach that avoids this issue. Here's a step-by-step guide to achieve the desired renaming format:
  1. Create a Backup: Before proceeding with any file renaming, it's always a good idea to create a backup of your photos to prevent accidental data loss.
  2. Use a Third-Party Renaming Tool: Consider using a third-party file renaming tool that provides more advanced...

  1. Create a Backup: Before proceeding with any file renaming, it's always a good idea to create a backup of your photos to prevent accidental data loss.
  2. Use a Third-Party Renaming Tool: Consider using a third-party file renaming tool that provides more advanced renaming options than the built-in Windows feature.
  3. Renaming the Files: Follow these steps to rename your files in the desired sequence: a. Sort Files by Date Taken: Go to the folder containing your photos, sort them by "Date Taken," and select "Ascending" to ensure they are in the correct order. b. Select All Photos: Select all the photos in the folder that you want to rename. c. Right-Click and Choose "Rename": Right-click on the selected photos, then choose the "Rename" option from the context menu. d. Enter the Base Name: Enter "Summer Vacation 2007" as the base name for the files. e. Use a Renaming Pattern: Use a renaming pattern that includes a sequence number. For example, "Summer Vacation 2007 (#)" where "#" represents the sequence number. f. Apply the Renaming: Apply the renaming pattern. The files should now be renamed in sequential order from "Summer Vacation 2007 (1)" to "Summer Vacation 2007 (100)." By following these steps with the help of a reliable third-party renaming tool, you should be able to rename your files as intended without encountering the numbering issue you described. If you need recommendations for renaming tools or further assistance with the process, feel free to ask!
