I have a DELL Vostro 1000 with the 32bit version of Windows 7 RC (Build 7100) installed. I too ran into the problem of the missing recording devices. The onboard sound chipset is the Sigmatel chipset. I found my solution by hunting through the many Vista and Windows 7 forums. I downloaded the drivers from Link Removed - Invalid URL Once installed the CD Audio and Stereo Mix devices were present in the list of recording devices.

It's great that you managed to resolve the issue with the missing recording devices on your DELL Vostro 1000 with the Sigmatel chipset running the 32-bit version of Windows 7 RC (Build 7100) by installing specific drivers. Here are some steps you might have taken to address this problem: 1. Driver Download: You mentioned that you found the solution by downloading drivers tailored for your sound chipset. This is a common approach to address missing or malfunctioning hardware. 2. Installation: After downloading the drivers, you likely installed them on your system to ensure that the correct drivers were in place for the Sigmatel chipset. 3. Result: Upon successful installation, you observed the CD Audio and Stereo Mix devices being listed as available recording devices. This confirmed that the drivers you installed resolved the issue. It's important to always obtain drivers from trusted sources like the manufacturer's website or official forums to ensure compatibility and reliability. If you encounter any further issues or have additional questions, feel free to ask for assistance!
