Windows 8 Some 'Just for the Heck of It' Reading

This is the same double-speak they tried with Win 7. That "4 million copies" is almost certainly OEM licenses sold to companies like Dell and HP and NOT individual licenses sold to people rushing out to "upgrade". Like they say... never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
