on my dads computer when he opens the defrag program
it gives the option to defrag

Windows8_OS (C:)
PBR_DRV
WINRE_DRV
\\?\Volume{8b75c47b-a5ea-43d2-b3a5-6cd5725559c0}\

he can defrag the top 3 but the bottom one wont let him defrag it and typing it into any search engine brings nothing
what is... \\?\Volume{8b75c47b-a5ea-43d2-b3a5-6cd5725559c0}\

\\ is a network address... the volume is most likly a usb stick at some other (work or old house) place.
Is your router a netgear or tp-link... if so is there now (or was there once) a usb stick in it?

PBR_DRV is the recovery partition.

WinRE_DRV is the recovery environment. This has recovery tools , such as automatic repair; restore etc. The line of digits is the path to that section.
Neither can be defragged. They are normally hidden folders. I can only suggest that your Dad has accidentally unhidden them and taken ownership. They would not normally pop up in the defrag program

Yes thats kind of odd... (so we are on the same page) are we talking about the default windows defrag program or some other 3rd party software?

Good question. I am in no mood to unhide or take ownership of mine, to find out!!
